Comments We start early, around 6:30am. The sky is clear, so we expect very warm morning. As the sun gets up, some clouds also appear. Tei's heart rate monitor showed astronomical numbers for the first quarter of the run. Therefore, the average rate is somewhat high (max being 191).

Comments We start at 6:30am, when it is quiet and cool, and dark. A number of different birds are up and delighting us early runners with their singing. The sun rises when we are in Hortpark filling our water bottles for the first time. We don't see too many people. We reach Botanic Gardens around 8am, and MacRitchie Reservoir Park at 9am. Both places are already crowded. The way from MaxRitchie on Lornie, Adams and Portsdown is long and lonely, and there are no places to fill water bottles or buy drinks.
