Exercise Run
Course Bintan, Indonesia

Time Ave 136, max ~151. We spend another weekend getaway on a beach resort, this time on Bintan, an island just an hour ferry trip away from Singapore. The island belongs to Indonesia, but the northern part is practically Singapore. We stay at Bintan Lagoon Resort.

On Saturday we spend the morning like the last weekend, walking on the beach and enjoying the peaceful landscape, clear waters --- the beach is also much cleaner than Desaru.

On Sunday morning we go for a run. It rains early, but at the time we hit the road it is sunny and hot. The road runs through a landscape of rolling hills and there is no shade from the blazing sun. We also take an unpaved road or rather a trail from where the paved road ends: it looks exactly like the trail we used to run in Bloomington in Summertime. Unfortunately we forget the camera, so no pictures this time.

Comments Ave 130, max 146. We spent a peaceful day and a half in Desaru, Malaysia. We stayed in a Pulai Desaru Beach Resort by the South China Sea. It was not quite the five-star resort we expected, but then again, it did not quite cost as much as a five-star hotel. The food was actually quite nice, and service good.

To reach the place, we took a ferry from Changi Ferry Terminal: the boat ride to Tanjung Belungkor took just 30 minutes. (the first two pictures are from the terminal)

On our second morning we go for a run, although it is quite hazy outside. Rest of our stay we spend on the beach sun and sea bathing. Just when about to leave the resort, we see a bicycle touring couple check in the hotel, and think that we should take advantage of short ferry rides from Singapore to to Malaysia, and come to ride to this side of the strait more often. The ferry back carries quite a few recreational bicyclists returning from the daytrip in Malaysia.

Comments ave 128, max 134, +25C, cloudy, drizzle. Comfort run in a cooler weather. The original plan was to head out for an all around the island bicycle ride in the early morning, but it was raining heavily.

Comments Ave 129, max ~148, cloudy. We run the trail from Bukit Timah Nature Reserve to MacRitchie Reservoir Park. We start relatively early, so there are a lot of hikers and runners on the trail, and most of them are so cheerful.

In the afternoon we pack our bags and go to Sentosa Island to attend our friend's wedding, which takes place at the Sentosa Resort and Spa. We also stay overnight at the resort. Before the wedding we tour the island and take the chair lift up the hill and Luge back down. It's fun!
