Low crime does not mean no crime --- reminds Singapore government the citizens that there indeed is crime in S'pore. And we evidenced this personally when our German neighbors called us and told that our bicycles, as well as theirs, had been stripped off of all valuable parts, such as wheels, disc brakes, cycle computer, pump and its holder, and bike tool set. The theft happened between 8 and 10pm. on Monday night, when they were out. We were out, too, but until a bit later. Unlike theirs, our bikes were stored in more secluded place, so we did not notice the theft. I cannot help thinking that it must have been someone who specifically knew that there were four mountain bikes stored at our condo, and the owners were out. And then to some happier stuff: A friend of mine from Finland visited us for two days from Monday night to Thursday morning on her way down under. I took Tuesday and Wednesday off from work to show her around. We spent quite relaxing time strolling parks: Haw Par Villa, Hortpark, and the Southern Ridges Park Connector from Kent Ridge Park to Mt Faber. On Wednesday we visited the Botanic Gardens. We also visited Vivocity, country's largest shopping mall, and walked the Orchard Road from end to end. We had drinks in the Long Bar at Raffles Hotel. The weather was favorable, mostly or partly cloudy, and drizzling occassionally, but still quite hot for someone not used to tropical temperatures. |
