Exercise Pilates
Comments Our last session with Samantha; she starts teaching at the polytechnic next week.

@ Sat 28/03/2009
Exercise BodyPump
Comments Again we had different program than last week. Tomi attended BodyPump in Canberra yesterday, and they too used some tracks from programs from last Summer if not earlier. He is now on his way back home.

@ Thu 26/03/2009
Exercise Run
Course Treadmill (program 6, level 9)
Time 30:00
Comments Ave 147, max 157. This was not too hard either. Tomi attended a core session in Fitness First, Canberra. Yesterday he took the RPM class there. According to him the FF facilities in Canberra are not as exquisite as here in S'pore, and they don't have juice bar.

@ Wed 25/03/2009
Exercise Run
Course West Coast Park
Distance 7.47K (6983 steps)
Time 40:07
Comments Ave 135, max 146, +26C, sunny. Nice, cool morning run.

@ Mon 23/03/2009
Exercise Pilates
Comments Exceptionally hard session: we had some new movements, too, but it was more the combination that made it hard.

@ Sun 22/03/2009
Exercise Run
Course Bukit Timah mountain bike trail
Distance 6K (altogether 16835 steps from home to Kent Ridge bus terminal, to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, and back)
Time 58:40
Comments Ave 133, max 151. Nice, cloudy day for a trail run. Despite recent heavy downpours the trail was not too muddy.

Exercise BodyPump
Comments After a two-week break (the main studio's floor underwent a renovation) we have a new pump program, and a very bouncy floor.

@ Fri 20/03/2009
Exercise Run
Course Kent Ridge Park
Distance 6.84K (6396 steps)
Time 35:38
Comments Ave 140, max 164, +26C. Nice breeze.

After listening to an interesting talk at the Singapore Management University in the late afternoon we head to Brewerkz for a couple of beers. We have pints of golden, steam, IPA, Hopback (real ale), and finish with goblets of xtra IPA and Belgian style dubbel, their specialty beer.

@ Wed 18/03/2009
Exercise Run
Course Treadmill (program 6, level 8)
Time 30:00
Comments Ave 139, max 150. A comfortable lunch time interval exercise. Definitely not too hard.

@ Fri 13/03/2009
Exercise Run
Course Ubud, Bali
Distance 10.1K (9356 steps)
Time 1:02'52
Comments Ave 123, max 149, warm and sunny. We start a bit earlier than yesterday, and run the same route. This time we do not carry water, but buy some jelly drink and juice at one of the stalls by the Ubud main street. This time someone passing us actually offers us transportation. I guess he was joking, though. Common people seem very friendly here.

Exercise Run
Course Ubud, Bali
Distance 10.19K (95252 steps)
Time 1:03'18
Comments Ave 129, max 151, warm and sunny. We start little after eight o'clock in the morning and it is quite hot already. We run north on the driving route to our hotel. There are quite a few roosters and dogs on our way --- we are in the countryside after all even if Ubud is just a twenty-minute walk away. We carry our own water but notice that would not have been necessary; there are several drink stalls on our route, mainly by the numerous art galleries and other arts and crafts shops. None of the taxis driving past offers us ride.

Exercise ABT
Comments Abs, butts, and thighs. This was a killer session. The instructor joked us beforehand that it will be too easy for us, since we go to BodyPump classes relatively frequently. Oh boy, it was far from easy. But we really enjoyed it. It is interesting since it does not follow any pre-planned commercial program, but the instructor plans the classes herself, so they are much more versatile. The A, B, and T workouts consist of relatively short sequences (8 or 16 counts) of different movements that repeat themselves, with no breaks in between.

Tomorrow we'll fly to Bali for a few days' vacation. That makes our first trip to the Southern hemisphere.

Exercise Watching golf
Comments We went to watch Women's championship golf tournament, which invited all the world's top lady golfers to Singapore. We followed our own star Minea Blomqvist.

Watching golf at the site is actually a lot of excercise. We probably walked ten kilometers in a few hours. Sometimes we had a hard time catching up with the players, who moved from tee to tee on the green, while we had to detours using trails. Singapore sunshine was also very hard on us today even if we were somewhat prepared.

Exercise RPM
Comments We were late for the BoduPump, so we opted for cycling. Great exercise, but so hard.

@ Fri 06/03/2009
Exercise Run
Course West Coast Park
Distance 7.56K (7068 steps)
Time 41:44
Comments Ave 133, max 145, +24C, cooler, humid after last night's massive rain.

@ Tue 03/03/2009
Exerrcise Run
Course West Coast Park
Distance 5.6K (5242 steps)
Time 31:16
Comments Ave 132, sunny, hot and humid. We did shorter run, since we started a little late.

@ Mon 02/03/2009
Exercise Pilates
Comments A lot of new faces in this class again. We did not do anything special we have not done before. Some of the balanicng exercises in the end were a bit different than before, though.

Exercise Bicycling
Course Bukit Timah Rd - Upper Thompson Rd - Yishun - Sembawang - Woodlands
Distance 69.32K (ave 19.0kph, max 36.9kph)
Time 3:38'53
Comments This is a suburban tour for a change. We planned to go more East, but turn back West when we notice it is going to be too long a way. We start the same route as last week, and stop for breakfast at Da Paolo at Bukit Timah. We have had their pizza in their Holland Village location before, and this place does not disappoint us either. It is just some awesome food: the grilled vegetable sandwich is delicious and the coffee so gooood!.

We take the Old Upper Thompson Rd, and this time we don't see many monkeys. Last week they were all over the road, probably because someone had dumped a garbage bag by the road. When out of the jungle we ride through the densily developed northmost part of the country and past many colorful HDB flats. We even make the mistake to take one of the park connectors but return to the road soon. Why all the pedestrians are on the dedicated bike lanes, when there is no one on the dedicated pedestrian lanes?

When almost home, we have salads and coffee at the nearby Coffee Bean. It is not even near as good as Da Paolo, but the coffee is much better than at Starbucks.

The odometer tells we have ridden 2112 kilometers on these bikes we bought last Summer. This time we had slicker tires, so the going was a bit smoother. We did not adjust the meter, so the distance measure may be little misleading.
