Exercise Run
Course Treadmill at FitnessFirst
Time 30:00 + 10:00
Comments Ave 141, max 160. We did a 30-minute climbing interval workout, program 2, level 6, and then a ten-minute speed interval workout (recovery at 8kph, and intervals at 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13kph)

@Fri 27/02/2009
Exercise Swim
Comments We did some laps in our Condo's pool after the day in the office.

@ Thu 26/02/2009
Exercise BodyBalance
Comments This time we attended an early morning class. This was very challenging session with all the balancing and else. We also did some awesome acrobatic movements, or at least we tried :)

@ Wed 25/02/2009
Exercise Run
Course Kent Ridge Park
Distance 6.71K (6180 steps)
Time 37:40
Comments Ave 133, max 160, +26C, cloudy. The climb to the top of Kent Ridge was a bit easier this time.

@ Mon 23/02/2009
Exercise Pilates
Comments We were moved to Main studio, since the BodyCombat class had to be moved somewhere else from there (and the only else is the Mind&Body studio), since it is disturbing the downstairs offices.

Exercise Bicycling
Course Botanic gardens - Upper Thompson Road - Kranji Dam - Bollywood
Distance 64.31K
Time 3:37'07 (ave 17.7kph, max 38kph)
Comments This is a hot day. We also encounter the first significant headwind since our Iceland trip. Today we make our second attempt to visit Bollywood. Our first was on the CNY when the place was closed. How stupid of us, since they posted all the information on their website.

This time we take a longer route East of the central reservoir area. We ride through some very nice neighborhoods of Singapore Botanic gardens, the Old Upper Thompson Road, and Upper Seletar Reservoir. For lunch we have some awesome Indian curries at Bollywood: banana curry, veggie curry, and chicken curry for $4 a small bowl of each, plus a papaya salad.

Some dark clouds have gathered to the sky when we start riding back home. The last few kilometers we are accompanied by loud thunder and heavy downpour. The rain is more than welcome: it has been so dry for a long time that everything is turning brown, and the trees are losing their branches.

Exercise BodyPump
Comments Not so crowded in the class today. No idea which program we are doing, but the bicep track was the same as last week. In the afternoon we got our first rain for more than two months, I think. It has not stopped pouring yet, and it looks like it won't anytime soon. We have plans to do some bike riding tomorrow. Hopefully, we won't get a similar downpour then.

Exercise Run
Course West Coast Park
Distance 8.35K (7802 steps)
Time 39:22
Comments Ave 145, +27C. The step count and thus the distance includes the cool-down walk to home. The days are getting hotter and more humid, now that the monsoon season is ending, and it affects the running.

@ Mon 16/02/2009
Exercise BodyCombat
Comments Another full house of people. The instructor had an amazing momentum. We did some funny jumps that took the breath out.

@ Sat 14/02/2009
Exercise BodyPump
Comments Full house. We had some mixture of old programs. Afterwards, we had some tasty Korean and vegetarian food.

@ Thu 12/02/2009
Exercise Run
Course West Coast Park
Distance 8.13K (7600 steps)
Time 41:58
Comments Ave 137, max 153, +25C, absolutely no breeze. We met a bunch of schoolkids (boys of age 12-14?) running in the park. There must have been at least 50 of them, and they were greeting us when coming by "Good morning, sir", "Good morning, madame".

@ Tue 10/02/2009
Exercise RPM
Time 50:00
Comments We have not been to RPM for a long time, so I thought I am going to take it easy. I did not, but tried to keep up with the pace of the instructor.

@ Mon 09/02/2009
Exercise Pilates
Comments Some new movements, some pretty hard ones, to keep things interesting.

Exercise Run
Course Kent Ridge Park - Labrador Nature Reserve
Distance 15.25K (14256 steps)
Time 1:30'54
Comments Ave 135, max 158, +32C, sunny/partly cloudy. We had a slow start to the day, so the run got postponed until early afternoon, the hottest time of the day. Actually, it took us time to decide what to do, whether to go for a bike ride, to the gym, to group X, or a longer run. We took our water bottles with us, but still bought some drinks on our way. The distance is misleading again, since we walked a lot of stairs in both parks.

@ Fri 06/02/2009
Exercise Run
Course West Coast Park
Distance 7.61K (7119 steps)
Time 38:36
Comments Ave 141, max 156, +24C, cooler morning, faster run.

@ Wed 04/02/2009
Exercise Run
Course Kent Ridge Park
Distance 6.85K (6385 steps)
Time 37:07
Comments Ave 137, max 162, +25C, but it feels much warmer. Another brisk run to the top of the hill. My heart rate went up from 124 to 162.

@ Mon 02/02/2009
Exercise Pilates
Comments Due to the CNY there was a two (or three?) week break in our Pilates attendance.

@ Sun 01/02/2009
Exercise Bicycling, walking
Course Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
Distance 58.00K
Time 3:08'09 (Ave 18.5kph, max 37.6kph)
Comments We celebrate the World Wetlands Day just a day early by visiting Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve in North-western Singapore. On our way we visit the Choa Chu Kang Chinese Cemetery. It seems that the tombstones are quite standardized. The cemetery tour is not planned, unlike the stop for lunch at Bollywood, but it is closed until 10th. Damn CNY!

We go on to Sungei Buloh. When we see the empty car park we wonder if anyone visits the place ever. It is at noon. When we leave the reserve around 2:30pm., the car park is full. We were just early birds :)

The first thing we have upon entering the reserve is lunch; we have ridden 30 kilometers and we are hungry (and our planned lunch stop Bollywood was closed). The cafeteria serves nasi lemak as a daily special. That's Tomi's choice and Tei has a sandwich. The coffee there is pretty good.

The hike in the park is nice and peaceful. We see a lot of birds, giant mudskippers, and monitor lizards. Many of the lizards let us very near before escaping. It scares both us and them. But not the one pictured.
