Ave 136, max 160, cloudy. Nice, cool morning for a run. This environment is a real test for how good shape one is in: it is hot, humid, and hilly here. We do not spend the rest of the day inactive, though. It is another great day for exploration --- not sunny, but pretty warm. First, we try to find ourselves throught the NUS campus again. It just does not work out, but we almost end up in a dead end in a dorm complex from which there seems to be no way out or in. Eventually we find a straircase accidentally left open. We continue through Science Park I to Kent Ridge Park and the Hortpark. We check the Hortmart, a place to shop for potted plants for our apartment and the balcony. They have some awesome big plants. From the Hortpark we take Alexandra Walkway to Telok Blangah Hill Park, and the Henderson Waves to Mt Faber Park. The first one is an elevated metal bridge that goes in heights through a secondary forest. The walkway is extremely popular: someone even tries to run there. Henderson Waves is a fancy pedestrian bridge that goes over Henderson Road. With its height of 36 meters it is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. The deck is also more than 70 meters above the sea level. Both bridges are part of the Southern Ridges, a connected park system that stretches over nine kilometers of green area constisting of Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, Kent Ridge Park, and West Coast Park. In case you wonder why we spent all day sightseeing instead of working, it is a national holiday today, Hari Raya Puasa . |
