+17C, sunny, windy. Took a tour in the countryside. Actually, it took more than hour to get out of the fully developed area, and still it was not quite peaceful. We really enjoyed riding the country roads instead of combined recreational trails that are crowded by bicyclists, roller skaters and dog-walkers. We visited Hvitträsk, once a home and studio of some of the most famous Finnish architects, among them Eliel Saarinen. Saarinen is most notably known, not only of Helsinki's main railway station, but also First Christian church in Columbus, Indiana. And Columbus is famous for its unique architecture by world-class architects, among them also Eliel's brother Erkki. |
