We took two days off and visitied Turku, the oldest town in Finland and also its former capital. My friend Marion took us to the largest restaurant brewery in Finland, Panimoravintola Koulu, Koulu (School) for short. The building is a former school, and the pub is decorated with paraphernalia from those days. On Monday we went to a mini cruise from Turku to Stockholm. There's practically nothing to do onboard besides drinking. We refrained until early afternoon's wine tasting. Thereafter we spent some time in a infrared sauna. It was supposed make us feel really good, but I did not notice anything special, but the sauna was dry and not as warm as an ordinary sauna, and of course there was nowhere to throw the water to. Viking Line has a California theme running through March and April, which is celebrated with an eclectic menu and a cheesy broadway show. Rather than watching the show that has nothing to do with California but sun --- the show culminates in "Let the sun shine in" --- we listened to a duo from the Garden state presenting all-american country and folk music in the sports bar. The guys were somewhat puzzled when we asked them to play something from Jimmy Buffet. They kind of knew one song, Margaritaville. |
